The health benefits of plants have been celebrated for thousands of years, from ancient Chinese medicines to modern-day herbal and homeopathic treatments. St John’s Wort can alleviate anxiety, turmeric root promotes cellular health, and elderberry has been cited as offering great benefits to the body’s immune system. Yet there’s another plant which has arguably done even more to improve human and planetary health and wellbeing through the centuries, and it’s the foundation stone of products from Cannalogica – a new international beauty brand.
Hemp is an astonishingly versatile plant which is already used everywhere from textiles to food and biofuel. Arguably its greatest attribute is the presence of a chemical called cannabidiol, which interacts positively with our own endocannabinoid system. Scientific research around the world has demonstrated this active ingredient’s effectiveness at treating medical conditions and improving overall health. And this inspired the founding of Cannalogica – a forward-thinking and conscientious beauty brand, based in Amsterdam and trading internationally. Cannalogica was inspired by a project carried out by our creative director Jamie Munro, focusing on the benefits of CBD. It soon became clear that CBD offered benefits for the skin which could be increased by combining CBD with other cannabinoids, of which there are over 270 in a full spectrum hemp extract. Cannalogica’s first collection of beauty products includes reviving and hydration oils, lip balms, deep cleanse face masques and moisturizers. None of these products contain artificial ingredients that might prove irritating to the skin; there are none of the artificial colors and fragrances, mineral oil, lanolin or microplastics found in less natural cosmetics.
Our products are rigorously tested in Cannalogica’s laboratory, where ongoing development is supporting the introduction of new product lines. Our research into the benefits of CBD has been supported by third-party challenge testing at Donnington Laboratories, in compliance with BS ISO 21148:2005, BS ISO 21149:2006 and BS ISO 16212:2011.
